What We’ve Been Up To, and Changes to Pricing Plans Moving Forward

TLDR; The option to get the Lifetime plan is going away at 11:59pm CDT on May 31st June 16th. For anyone who hasn’t signed up for the Journal yet, or anyone on the monthly or annual plans, you have until then to sign up or email us asking to upgrade (details/reasoning below). Existing Lifetime accounts won’t be affected.

Can you believe it’s been almost a year since we launched the Activity Journal!? We’re blessed beyond measure that our members have saved tons of time entering activities into their Activity Journals. Over 215,000 activities now!

Praise God, our little homeschool software startup is off to a strong start. I’m blessed beyond measure, and once again, thank you to all who continue to share Homeschool Hall with your friends and groups.

When the Activity Journal was first released last July, the team decided we’d launch with 3 plans:

  • $7.99 Monthly
  • $79.99 Yearly
  • $300 Lifetime Access

Like many tech startups, we are bootstrapped, meaning we’re not backed by investors. We offered a Lifetime option for the Activity Journal at first because it provided a necessary cashflow boost to our little startup so we had the funds to develop, market, and cover some initial costs when starting out.

For all our members, know that you are a huge part of our success, and Kristina and I are incredibly grateful!

Since we want to be around for the long haul, removing the Lifetime option is a necessary step to ensure we have constant revenue to continue developing and supporting our members for many, many years to come.

And we’ve got some big plans for the future of Homeschool Hall! While we started out as a local Directory to find nearby homeschooling groups and resources. Then we added the Activity Journal, which started as only a tracking tool, but we’ve been making changes over time to become a tracking AND planning tool. Then we added our High School Transcript Builder to help with college prep, as well.

Over the next year, we’ll be working to improve and add more to the platform, especially for the planning side.

Long-term, we’ll also be adding co-op management, a learning marketplace where you can purchase lesson plans, curriculum, and courses—all integrated with the Journal—and several other tools to help you simplify and save time on your homeschooling journey.

If you’ve been planning on signing up for the Journal, now is the time to do it before the Lifetime option goes away! Signing up or upgrading now will lock you in to all current and future Activity Journal features.

How Can We Upgrade to Lifetime from Monthly or Yearly?

(If you aren’t a current Activity Journal subscriber, simply visit our signup page to learn more and select the Lifetime option at signup! It’s super easy to get started, and we tried to make everything really simple and intuitive.)

If you’re already a paid subscriber, please email us info@homeschoolhall.com, and we’ll be happy to take care of the upgrade for you! Whether you’re on the monthly or yearly plan, you’ll receive a pro-rated credit for any unused time in your current billing period when you upgrade to Lifetime, and we’ll confirm a couple details before any charges occur. Please note that you’ll need to reach out using your account email address, as we can’t discuss accounts or do upgrades without verifying that you’re, well, you. 🙂

And don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions you have! Always happy to help, and I love supporting other homeschool families.

Thanks again for all the support, and here’s to many more years of Homeschool Hall and a simplified homeschooling experience!
